Profile
Curious about the systems behind real-world change.
Hello, my name is Hussam and I’m a 17-year-old student at the British School of Bahrain. I am currently in Year 13, part of the Class of 2027, and I aim to study engineering at university, where my passion lies. At A-Level, I am currently studying Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, which demonstrates my quantitative and analytical strengths in understanding machines and the forces that act around us.
As a Pakistani who was born and raised in Dubai, I have developed an understanding of the extraordinary difference between both worlds. However, despite the disparity between them, one challenge they both face is the changing climate and its effects on both the environment and on us. There are many sustainability initiatives, but few focus on the proposed effects on the human body and mind, such as how decreasing air quality is contributing to a rise in respiratory diseases. Moreover, due to the terrifying increase in extreme weather-related cases, more people are likely to develop antisocial tendencies as they socialize less with others. This is why I developed EcoMind, a platform focused on how we can adapt to worsening climate conditions.
Through this project, I aim to propose a new way of living that promotes a healthier, greener lifestyle, one suggested by researchers to have a positive impact on the human psyche and overall wellbeing.
